Alumni Meeting: January 24, 2009 Saturday (McDonald's Gatchalian)

1.) Mama Sim's 59th Birthday is on Friday, January 30, 2009.

- Brando will facilitate a small surprise program (e.g. 59 wishes/ messages and gifts) for Ma'am Sim together with some of the PEHM faculty and
alumni who would like to be part of the event.

- 8 pm at Ma'am Sim's house

- bring small tokens/ gifts for Ma'am Sim, or food/drinks for the party

- be prepared to sing Special Memory (request daw po ito ni Ma'am Sim)

- everyone is enjoined to come. Habol na lang po kayo if you cannot make it at 8pm. Sa Bernabe Subd. pa rin si Ma'am Sim. Kilala naman po siya doon.


2.) Reunion 2009
- May 2 pa rin ang tentative na date. Next meeting kailangan na ng intensive planning regarding specific tasks and schedules para ma-finalize na kung kakayanin nga ba ng May 2.

- our reunion will be a fund-raising event to benefit PNHS scholars.
See item number 3 below for detailed information about it.

- Why raise a scholarship fund and not funding for something more tangible like infrastructure? According to Brando, okay na daw ang Mune pagdating sa ganoong mga bagay, e.g. computers, facilities, books, etc.Apparently, kasama yun sa development program ng current principal na si Mr. Agustin. Mas importante na makatulong tayo makapagpatapos ng mga bata'ng gustong maka-graduate man lang ng hayskul.

- OUR TARGET: to raise at least 30K to be able to fund the schooling of 5 students for the Academic Year 2009-2010.

- Php 30,000.00?!
Monthly allowance: Php500.00 x 10 calendar months = Php5,000
Project Fund per student: Php1,000.00

- How to help:
a. ATTEND THE REUNION. A portion of the ticket cost will go to the scholarship fund, e.g. for a 300 ticket, 100 goes to the fund. Ticket will cost about 300-500, depending on what will be decided upon by the reunion committee.

b.PLEDGE. Individually or by group, you can be sponsors. We can all chip in to raise at least 6K per student. This amount is already for the whole academic year. We will be creating the alumni account by February. We just have to prepare the requirements and devise the mechanics for sponsors first. We will keep you
posted on how thru the alumni, you can contribute to this endeavor.

- CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS:

3.) The PNHS Scholars
- this was started by Ms. Riza Daganasol, a former IV- DOST student under Sir Espino (Batch 1998, sister of Sir Ryan, W5, Batch 2000) who is now among the guidance counselors at PNHS. Implemented by the Guidance Office, the scholarship is based on need, not necessarily academic performance. They are however required to at least pass all their subjects, and devote some hours of clerical work at the Guidance Office (similar to Student Assistants). Each student receives a Php500 monthly allowance. If they need additional allowance for projects, they ask from the Guidance office. Scholarship slots are subject to the availability of funds. Funding comes from volunteer individuals who are also former students of the PNHS.

- Brando shared that Ma'am Riza still has several plans regarding the scholars such as to organize scholar activities for the whole year, e.g. gift-giving, meet and greet, etc. We will continue to coordinate with them, particularly thru Brando, so as to help in the further organization of the scholarship project.


4.) OTHER MATTERS:
- Sir Jeff Dosal has turned-over the DVD player and MP4, prizes of the alumni raffle last December 2008, to Sir Scott Atayde last January 12, Monday. Sir Scott has promised that he will document the turn-over to the actual winners so that we can post the pictures at the blog. I am expecting his e-mail this week.

PNHS CAT Alumni Raffle 2008 Winners

Sila po ang mga mapapalad na nagsipagwagi sa ating alumni raffle last December 6, 2008 during the Alumni Acquaintance Party. Miss Geraline Elizalde won the 1GB MP4 player while Miss Salvacion Nevera won the DVD player. Sir Scott Atayde (batch 2002) who acted as ticket agent awarded their prizes last Jan. 12, 2009
